They Call Me Brave: a children’s book about cancer
They Call Me Brave follows the true story of seven-year-old Ava and her journey fighting cancer. Ava’s story goes beyond cancer, however, and proves that although she might be sick, she’s still unstoppable.
Through honesty and humor, this book empowers children and their families to keep moving forward no matter what medical issues they may be experiencing. This book shows children that they, too, are like Ava: strong, beautiful, funny, and Brave.
Ages: Birth to 8
Such a unique and beautiful way to share the story of how a child can navigate any type of medical treatment. It provides a sense of normality to oncology treatments, something that is much needed! Highly recommend this book to everyone looking for an inspiring and impactful children’s story.
A beautifully written true story of one little girl’s journey battling cancer. Having worked in an elementary school for twenty years with children having health issues, this book would have been a great teaching tool for a hard topic. The simply stated narrative gives answers and security to curious minds. I highly recommend this book as a resource when implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives to your classroom curriculum.
